I once again teamed up with my friend and mentor, Paul, from Canadian Woodworks to build and auction off a Sam Maloof inspired guitar pick stool, made form curly maple and cocobolo. This was one awesome build and it was the second time I had the privilege of making Sam Maloof joinery.
I am very thankful to Paul and Aimee for teaming up with me on this charity build and hosting me for another incredible day working in my favourite shop and hanging with amazing people. I learned a lot on from this build and I’m grateful to Paul and Aimee for their longtime support, generosity and mentorship.
The auction is through Givergy, a secure online platform. The proceeds from the sale of the stool will be given to SickKids Foundation. For details on eligibility and of course to bid, click on the Givergy link in my bio which will take you directly to the auction page.
As we realize not everyone can or will want to place a bid on the stool, we set up a separate GoFundMe fundraiser for those that would like to consider contributing to our cause in some financial way.
The online auction is open and will close at 6:00 p.m. EST on October 6th.

One of a kind side/end table, made with Canadian black walnut and epoxy
SILENT AUCTION - https://www.sickkidsevents.org/evansworkshop
This summer, I teamed up with my friends, Paul and Aimee, at Canadian Woodworks to hand make a Sam Maloof inspired side/end table for a charity build to support Sick Kids Foundation.
This is your chance to bid on a beautiful piece of furniture for your home. So open your hearts and your wallets for a great cause.
You may recall through my stories and reels on Instagram that I spent two full days at Canadian Woodworks, as Paul taught me how to build this unique piece of furniture. He spent the time to teach me every step, new woodworking skills and I got to use tools that I haven’t worked with before. What an awesome experience!
Since that time, I’ve spent countless hours refining and sanding the table base, making the table top and applying the finishing touches. I’m so proud of how it turned out. This is one of my most challenging builds yet.
I want to give a BIG shout out and THANK YOU to Paul and Aimee for teaming up with me to support a great cause, opening their shop to me (which is my favourite) and for taking the time to teach me how to make this one of a kind piece of furniture. I’m appreciative and grateful for their support, generosity and mentorship.
I would also like to give a special thank you to Rob at Concept Thirteen for donating the epoxy and his services for this build. I’m also thankful for his support, generosity and mentorship.
About Sam Maloof…He was an award winning contemporary furniture designer and woodworker. His work can be found in several major American museums. While he was a self-taught woodworker, his work is instantly recognizable for its unique designs and masterful workmanship.
The online auction will open on November 27 at 9:00 am EST and will close on December 11, 2022 at 9:00 pm EST

While I donate a portion of each of my sales to SickKids Foundation, sometimes, on the fly,
I really enjoy taking one or more of my pieces and selling it to one buyer for one price, with all proceeds going to Sick Kids Foundation 😃.
To kick off the summer, I made a cutting/serving board made with walnut, maple and zebra woods. It's also beveled on the bottom so that it can be lifted easily and adds a little flare.

3-Piece Serving Board Set
Price: $375 (CAD), includes shipping
About a month ago, I announced that I'd be working on a 'give back project'. I originally thought I'd raffle off what I made, but I wanted to try something different. So now I’m selling it for one price to one buyer. All proceeds will go to SickKids Foundation! Also, my parents will match the price. Double the win for kids!
I received lots of ideas on what I should make; from desks to cutting boards, coffee tables and more. Someone suggested that I make a serving board set and that’s what I did 😃. This set includes a charcuterie board, a pearl green epoxy serving board and a matching set of coasters. I made all items using my favourite wood, Canadian Black Walnut.
Dimensions are:
Charcuterie board - 24” x 10” x 1”
Epoxy board - 18” x 10” x 1”
Coasters (set of 6) - 4” x 4” x 3/8”
The first person to DM or email me (evansworkshop@icloud.com) stating that you want to buy the set will get it. Payment must be received prior to shipping. Shipping only within Canada.
Good luck and thank you for your support!
